Pick by family, then by coverage
The tabs above the list filter styles by family: cute wraps, cursive, bubble, small, bold and wide, flip and glitch, numbers and look-alikes. Under every style you will find a small coverage line. It lists what share of the style's characters we found in the system fonts of Windows 10 and Android 8, 10, 12 and 14.
All glyphs on all five systems is the best result. A lower percentage means a few letters of that style can show as an empty box on that system. The percentages come from reading the font files, and a separate check in Chrome on Windows 10 matched them for the 2,110 characters we tried.
What the families mean
- Cute: a plain or fancy word wrapped in hearts, stars or sparkles, or with a symbol between the letters.
- Cursive: script, blackletter and slanted letters from the mathematical alphabets.
- Bubble: letters inside circles and squares.
- Small: tiny raised letters, tiny lowered letters and small capitals.
- Flip and glitch: upside down, struck through, underlined and stacked marks.
- Look-alikes: letters borrowed from other alphabets. They are decoration only.
Switch on Plain text for screen readers to show your ordinary text under every style. Screen readers read many of these characters by their Unicode names or skip them, so keeping a plain copy nearby is kind to readers who use one.
How each family did in our font test, with the method and the test date, is in the compatibility data.
Questions
What does the coverage line mean?
It shows how many of a style's characters we found in the fonts that ship with each system. All glyphs means every character was found. A percentage means some letters have no picture there.
Is the font changer the same as a normal font?
No. A normal font changes how letters are drawn. These styles replace the letters with other characters, which is why they can be pasted but can also show as boxes.
Why are look-alike styles at the bottom?
They use letters from other alphabets, so a screen reader announces the real characters, not your word. We keep them, but last, and we label them decoration only.
Can I mix two styles?
Yes. Copy one, paste it, then come back and copy another. Mixing is fine in a bio, but keep the first letter of your name plain if you want people to search for you.
