Text colour
Option 1: a Discord code block
This builds the text of an ansi code block: three backticks, the word ansi, your text wrapped in colour codes, and three closing backticks. We have not verified this feature against Discord's help pages, so treat it as unconfirmed: test it in a private channel first. Colours depend on the app and the theme.
Option 2: a coloured picture
A picture works anywhere you can post an image. It cannot be copied as text, and a screen reader cannot read it, so add a caption or alt text.
Why letters have no colour
Unicode is a list of characters, not of colours. A fancy blue font does not exist as text. Any colour you see on a profile comes from the app that draws the text, not from the characters. So there are only two ways to get coloured words: ask an app to colour them, or turn them into a picture.
Option 1: a code block
The first panel builds the text of an ansi code block with eight text colours, plus bold and underline. You can copy it and paste it into a chat. We have not verified this feature against Discord's help pages, so we cannot promise it. Test it in a private channel first, and if no colour appears, use the picture.
Option 2: a picture
The second panel draws your text on a canvas in the colour you choose, with a transparent, pink, dark or white background and a size from 32 to 160 pixels. It then saves a PNG on your device. Nothing is uploaded. A picture works anywhere you can post an image, but it cannot be selected or read by a screen reader, so add a caption or alt text.
Questions
Can I paste coloured text into a bio?
Not as text. A bio holds characters, and characters carry no colour. Use a picture or an app that has its own colour option.
Does the Discord code block always work?
We could not confirm it from Discord's help pages. Test it in a private channel.
Why does the preview look different from my chat?
The preview uses approximate colours. Apps and themes choose their own.
Is the picture uploaded?
No. It is drawn and saved in your browser.
